Can images change the world? If pictures of suffering - poverty, disease, war - have less impact in a global age saturated by visual images of suffering, what is the role of filmmakers and photojournalists? This event will discuss the role and changing practises and ethics of photographers ans film makers faced with so-called 'compassion fatigue'.
Adrian Evans is Director of Panos Pictures. Professor Lilie Chouliariki is POLIS Research Director at LSE. Julian Stallabrass is a reader at The Courtauld Institute. Renzo Martens is an artist. Sabine Selchow is a fellow at LSE. Dr. Paul Lowe, is Course Director, MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography, London College of Communication, University of the Arts.
